Exclusion and Deportation Orders

Exclusion Orders and Deportation Orders are types of removal orders issued by Canadian immigration authorities to enforce the removal of individuals from Canada under certain circumstances.

Exclusion Order

An Exclusion Order means that a person is barred from entering the country for a specified period of time.

Ban Duration

  • Typically 1 year
  • Can extend to 5 years for misrepresentation or serious offenses

Re-entry

  • Can re-enter after the exclusion period ends
  • Authorization to return is not required if re-entry is after the exclusion period

Deportation Order

A Deportation Order applies to people living in or returning to Canada. A deportation order means you are permanently banned from re-entering the country.

Ban Duration: 

  • Permanent ban from re-entering Canada

Re-entry: 

  • An authorization to return to Canada (ARC) is required to re-enter
  • Without an ARC, individuals remain inadmissible.
