Overview

This video features Lawyer Janan Jarrah to discuss how an Islamic divorce differs from a legal divorce.

About Janan Jarrah:

Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Janan Jarrah’s journey to becoming a lawyer began early—earning a reputation as the “little debater” in school. She got her first exposure to the justice system as a student parole officer, visiting correctional facilities and helping former inmates reintegrate. While studying criminology at the University of Alberta, she continued supporting vulnerable populations through halfway house work. After completing her law degree at the University of New Brunswick, Janan practiced as in-house counsel with Legal Aid Alberta before starting her own law firm in 2013. Today, her practice focuses on defending the rights of those often overlooked in family, criminal, and child welfare courts. Janan also volunteers her time through free legal clinics and seminars in Edmonton.
